Ensure that each course is laid level and plumb using a level and string line as a guide. Adjust the mortar bed thickness and use shims or wedges to maintain consistent height and alignment.

2. **Mortar inconsistency**: Inconsistent mortar consistency can lead to weak bonds, poor adhesion, and uneven joints. Ensure that the mortar mix is properly proportioned, thoroughly mixed, and has the correct consistency for the application. Adjust the water content or add bonding agents as needed to achieve the desired workability.
