How does Nigeria ensure product quality and standards for exports?
Nigeria ensures product quality and standards for exports through the following ways
The Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) is the apex standardization body in Nigeria.
SON has schemes like the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Program (MANCAP) and SON Conformity Assessment Program (SONCAP) to ensure that products meet the standards.
SON also certifies industrial products and provides capacity for local production of quality goods.
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) regulates the production, trade and sale of food, drugs, cosmetics, chemicals, detergents, medical devices and packaged water.
NAFDAC also inspects imported regulated products and production sites, as well as issue certification for regulated products destined for export.
