The Nigerian government has taken several measures to address intellectual property rights protection for exporters, including ¹ ² ³:
- *Strengthening of the legal framework*: The government has established laws and regulations to protect intellectual property rights, including the Copyright Act, Patents and Designs Act, and Trademarks Act.
- *Strengthening of the institutional framework*: The government has established institutions such as the Nigerian Copyright Commission and the Trademarks, Patents and Designs Registry to administer and enforce intellectual property rights.
- *Enhancing the generation and protection of Intellectual Property rights*: The government has established programs to promote the creation and protection of intellectual property, including the National Intellectual Property Policy and Strategy.
- *Promotion and facilitation of commercial exploitation*: The government has established programs to promote the commercial exploitation of intellectual property, including the Nigerian Export Promotion Council.
- *Strengthening the legal and institutional framework for enforcement*: The government has established institutions and laws to enforce intellectual property rights, including the Nigerian Copyright Commission and the Trademarks, Patents and Designs Registry.
- *Development of the required human resources*: The government has established programs to develop the human resources required for the administration, protection, commercialization, and enforcement of intellectual property rights.
- *Promotion of intellectual property training, education and awareness*: The government has established programs to promote intellectual property training, education, and awareness, including the National Intellectual Property Policy and Strategy.
