How does the Nigerian government address quality standards and certification requirements for exports?
The Nigerian government addresses quality standards and certification requirements for exports through the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). SON's primary objectives are to prepare standards, certify industrial products, provide capacity for local production of quality goods, improve measurement accuracy and circulate information relating to standards. NAFDAC, on the other hand, is responsible for regulating and controlling the importation, exportation, manufacture, advertisement, distribution, sale and use of food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, bottled water and chemicals.
