Here are some export opportunities in the automotive industry in Nigeria ¹ ²:

- *Support greater volumes of exports*: Nigeria can increase its export volumes of existing product lines such as trailers, semi-trailers, and pneumatic tires to utilize production capacity and develop economies of scale.
- *Improve the investment climate*: Nigeria can improve the investment climate to attract foreign investors in large assembly and manufacturing plants resulting from greater continental demand.
- *Promote the movement from SKD to CKD assembly*: Nigeria can promote the movement from semi-knock down (SKD) to complete knock down (CKD) assembly to increase local content and value addition.
- *Encourage exports of intermediate and ancillary products*: Nigeria can encourage exports of intermediate and ancillary products such as auto parts, components, and accessories to other countries in the region.
- *Engage with large producers of raw materials*: Nigeria can engage with large producers of raw materials such as lithium, aluminum, and rubber to secure supply and reduce dependence on imports.

Here are the export opportunities in the automotive industry in Nigeria

- *Export promotion policies*: The Government of Nigeria should take advantage of the trading opportunities presented by the AfCFTA to develop the automotive industry through export promotion policies.

- *Nigeria can enter regional value chains*: That would lead to product and export specialization in the auto sector.

- *Assembling or produce fully-built units of vehicles*: Nigeria can produce parts and components and then sell them in the consolidated and large African market.

- *Exporting raw materials*: Nigeria can use the plentiful raw materials available on the continent to become an upstream producer of intermediate goods.

- *Exporting greater volumes*: Nigeria could export greater volumes of trailers, semi-trailers and pneumatic tyres to achieve economies of scale.
