Auto insurance is a type of insurance coverage that provides financial protection to policyholders in the event of accidents, theft, or other damages related to their vehicles. It helps cover the costs associated with repairing or replacing vehicles, medical expenses for injuries, liability for damage to others' property, and legal expenses resulting from accidents or incidents involving insured vehicles.
Here are the key components of auto insurance:

Liability Coverage: Pays for bodily injury and property damage to others if the policyholder is found legally responsible for causing an accident. It typically includes bodily injury liability and property damage liability coverage.

Collision Coverage: Pays for damages to the insured vehicle resulting from collisions with other vehicles or objects, regardless of fault.

Comprehensive Coverage: Pays for damages to the insured vehicle resulting from incidents other than collisions, such as theft, vandalism, fire, hail, windstorm, flood, earthquake, falling objects, and animal collisions.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage: Provides coverage if the policyholder is involved in an accident with a driver who does not have auto insurance (uninsured) or lacks sufficient insurance coverage to fully compensate for the damages (underinsured).

Medical Payments Coverage (MedPay): Pays for medical expenses incurred by the policyholder and passengers in the insured vehicle regardless of fault, up to the policy limits.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP): Pays for medical expenses, lost wages, and other expenses related to injuries sustained by the policyholder and passengers in the insured vehicle, regardless of fault. PIP coverage is required in some states with no-fault insurance laws.

Rental Reimbursement Coverage: Pays for the cost of renting a vehicle while the insured vehicle is being repaired or replaced due to a covered claim.

Towing and Labor Coverage: Pays for roadside assistance services such as towing, jump-starts, tire changes, and locksmith services.

Auto insurance is typically purchased for individual vehicles and can be customized to fit the policyholder's needs, preferences, and budget. Policyholders pay a premium to the insurance company in exchange for coverage, and the insurance company agrees to pay for covered claims up to the limits of the policy. Auto insurance is required by law in most states, and policyholders must carry minimum levels of coverage to comply with legal requirements while driving on public roads.
