The main difference between a fixed-rate mortgage and an adjustable-rate mortgage is that fixed-rate mortgages have an interest rate that remains the same throughout the loan's term, while adjustable-rate mortgages have interest rates that can change based on broader market trends

Fixed-rate mortgages provide borrowers with predictability since they always know how much they'll have to pay, but they don't benefit from lower interest rates. Adjustable-rate mortgages have lower initial interest rates and can be beneficial if interest rates fall, but they can also increase if interest rates rise
