What is the difference between a mortgage broker and a mortgage lender?

A mortgage broker is an intermediary who connects borrowers with lenders and helps them find the best loan options On the other hand, a mortgage lender is a financial institution that provides the loan to purchase a home. Mortgage brokers don't lend money, but they work with multiple lenders to find the best match for a borrower's situation. In contrast, mortgage lenders provide mortgages directly to borrowers and can either keep the loan or sell it to an investor.
