BIOS stands for Basic Input Output System ¹ ². It is a software stored on a small memory chip on the motherboard. It is responsible for the POST and makes it the first software to run when a computer is started. BIOS is used to instruct the computer on how to perform basic functions such as booting and keyboard control. It is also used to identify and configure the hardware in a computer such as the hard drive, floppy drive, optical drive, CPU, memory, and related equipment.

BIOS stands for Basic Input/Output System. It is a firmware interface that serves as the software interface between the computer hardware and the operating system. BIOS initializes and tests hardware components during the boot process and provides basic system configuration settings, such as the boot order, date and time settings, and hardware parameters. BIOS is stored in a read-only memory (ROM) chip on the computer's motherboard and is essential for the initial startup and operation of the computer system.
