Here are some of the key challenges faced by Nigerian exporters ¹ ² ³:

Corruption: Corruption remains a major challenge for Nigerian exporters. Bribes are often demanded at ports, and the lack of transparency in government procurement can lead to unfair competition.

Foreign Exchange Restrictions: The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) tightly controls foreign exchange, making it difficult for exporters to access the currency they need to import necessary inputs and equipment.

Bureaucracy: Exporters face a range of bureaucratic hurdles, including delays in obtaining necessary documentation and permits.

Inadequate Infrastructure: Nigeria's transportation infrastructure is often inadequate, leading to delays and increased costs for exporters.

Security: Exporters may face security challenges, particularly in the Niger Delta region, where there have been instances of piracy and kidnapping.

Limited Access to Finance: Exporters may struggle to access finance, particularly for large-scale export projects.

Certification: Exporters may face challenges in obtaining necessary certifications, particularly for products such as food and drugs.

Competition: Exporters may face stiff competition from other countries, particularly in the West African region.
